Budget has no substance in it: Munde

Press Trust of India  |  Mumbai

Leader of Opposition in the legislative council Dhananjay Munde today dubbed the Budget presented by the Devendra Fadnavis as a mere "show-off" with "absolutely no substance in it."

"The has done jugglery on various aspects in the Budget, including tampering with the growth rate and used wrong methods to gauge the previous year's growth records," Munde told reporters here.

"Since the run up to the Assembly polls, they have been talking about a toll free Maharashtra. But this Budget too, does not speak anything about abolishing toll taxes," he said.

Munde further claimed that as per the estimates of road construction to be done in the upcoming year, people in the state would have to pay toll taxes amounting to Rs 1,07,000 crore.

"The spoke about a memorial for Chhatrapati Shivaji, Ambedkar memorial, Shahu Maharaj and and allotted Rs 200 crore for them. But they conveniently forgot a memorial for (late Gopinath) Munde saheb, despite the CM talking about it when he came to power," Munde said.

He further said that farmers have been "cheated" with this Budget and the is going against their interests.

"Lakhs of crores have been allotted for urban development but not as much for rural development. The is doing discrimination with people in rural areas. This is nothing short of a magician that does magic and jugglery with facts and figures," Munde said.
