A total of 39,80,619 Jan Dhan accounts have 'zero' bank balance, the official said. The chief secretary has also asked the top officials to complete seeding of Aadhaar and mobile numbers, and distribution of Rupay cards and their activation as early as possible, he added. Besides, the officials have been asked to submit their first progress report in this direction by November 28 and subsequently, on every Monday the progress report have to be sent to the Directorate of Institutional Finance of the state government through e-mail, he said. The banks have also been advised to contact district Collectors for recruitment of banking correspondents.
