Chana prices dropped by 2.16 per cent to Rs 5,199 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at prevailing levels amid fall in demand in the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in November fell by Rs 115, or 2.16 per cent to Rs 5,199 per quintal with an open interest of 42,210 lots.
Likewise, the commodity for delivery in October lost Rs 108, or 2.03 per cent to Rs 5,203 per quintal in 4,420 lots.
Market analysts said besides profit-booking by participants at existing levels, easing demand in the physical market against adequate stocks position, mainly pulled down chana prices at futures trade.
