Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has decided to undertake a massive campaign to brand and beautify the city, known for its lakes.
"Thane will have its own branding and it will be based on rich combination of the lakes, greenery which the city has," Civic Commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal told reporters here.
For this purpose, a competition for designing a logo has been opened for the citizens from today, he added.
The best logo, to be selected by a committee will be awarded Rs 1 lakh as prize, Jaiswal said.
"Once the logo is accepted it can be made public and can be freely used by various buildings, societies, establishments and even citizens to promote the city," Jaiswal added.
The colour scheme for the logo will be Acqua Blue (primary colour) and leafy green and chrome yellow as secondary colours.
Bus stands, signages across the city will be painted using these colours only, added the civic chief.
He said the Pokhran Road Number 1 will be developed on this concept using this colour scheme.
"TMC wanted to give the city a new identity of its own and hence this attempt to brand and beautify it," he added.
Jaiswal said he has already discussed the plan with housing bodies like MCHI and CREDAI and both of them have welcomed it.
Thane Mayor Sanjay More and Additional Municipal Commissioner Sunil Chavan were also present for the conference.
