A civic volunteer's wife was stabbed to death by miscreants in Malda district when she tried to resist them from forcibly taking a written statement from her husband about ownership of land over which there was an old enmity.
One person was arrested in this connection.
The civic volunteer, Sanatan Das, posted at Ratua Police Station of Malda district was attacked by a group of miscreants at his home last night, the police said.
When his wife tried to resist them from making her husband sign on the paper under duress, the miscreants stabbed her resulting in her death.
The incident occurred at Bajitpur Colony area under Ratua police station area.
The police said, the miscreants had come from adjacent Bihar.
