Cong leader dies after submitting memo against demonetisation

A 55-year-old leader today died due to cardiac arrest soon after submitting a memorandum protesting the Centre's move.

district President Darshan Singh suffered a massive heart attack after coming from Moti Mahal, Divisional Commissioner's Office, where leaders as part of the party's 'Akrosh rally' had gone to submit a memorandum against demonetisation, General Secretary Ashok Singh said.



Divisional Commissioner S N Roopla told PTI that as part of the delegation, Singh came for submitting the memorandum, which he took in the office premises.

Roopla said Singh suffered "(heart) attack" after reaching his (Singh's) office.

Soon after the heart attack, Singh was rushed to a local hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

He was considered close to senior leader and Guna MP Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Prime Minister Modi on November 8 had announced of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes.
