Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today claimed that Congress will easily win the by-elections to Bhornaj Assembly seat, which fell vacant after the sudden demise of BJP leader Ishwar Dutt Dhiman earlier this month. "Congress is fully ready and united, and will easily win the seat," he told reporters here. On distribution of tickets for the Assembly elections next year, Singh said, "Candidates from every section of the society will get tickets, and youth and women will get their due quota." Claiming BJP was on the back-foot after demonetisation and because the entire Opposition had united against it, he said, "Congress would hold demonstrations against demonetisationtomorrow." "Decision to demonetise notes was taken in haste and was causing hardship to commoners.
Farmers were worst sufferers as cooperative banks, mostly based in villages, are not allowed to exchange demonetised notes," Singh said. He said he has apprised the central government of the situation in rural areas.
