A debt-ridden farmer allegedly committed suicide in the Chak Bakhtiyara village in the Sirathu area here, the police said today. Farmer Rambabu Dwivedi, (60), was found hanging from a tree near his field yesterday night, the police said. Family members, who found Dwivedi's body, alleged that he was depressed due to loans he owed to different financial institutions. 'Prima facie' it appears to be a case of suicide, a police official said adding that a probe was being conducted.
