A Delhi court today granted bail to a 44-year-old woman, arrested in connection with a case of road rage in which she allegedly assaulted and abused two Army personnel in Vasant Kunj area.
Metropolitan Magistrate Lovleen granted the relief to Smriti Kalra after she was produced before the court.
According to police, the incident happened on September 9 but was reported on September 13, following which a case was registered and the woman arrested.
Mahavir Singh Rathore, an army subedar, was going towards Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station in a truck to see his five colleagues off when the incident happened, the police said.
It said that when the truck reached Rajokri flyover, a car overtook it.
Rathore alleged in his complaint that the car was driven by Kalra in a zig-zag manner. He also alleged that despite blowing the horn, she refused to give them way.
He also claimed that the car driver blocked their way when they tried to move towards the left or the right side.
"Subsequently, the driver stopped the truck. Rathore asked the driver, constable Mohd Arif Khan, to talk to the driver to explain the situation. Khan tried to speak to the woman but she held his collar, slapped him and hurled abuses at him," the police said.
A video recording of the incident by Rathore's friend was later submitted to the police following which the woman was arrested, they said.
The police further said that Kalra was married to an army officer's son in 1995 but they got divorced in 2008.
