Delhi Police among forces providing security at BRICS summit

Press Trust of India  |  New Delhi

Thirty personnel, of sub inspectors and constables ranks of Police, are working with Police to provide security to VVIPs and other dignitaries at the ongoing BRICS-BIMSTEC summit.

"It's for the first time that is hosting such a big event. Since I have been Joint Commissioner of Police, Prime Minister Security, I know their expertise in handling security arrangements. We sought the help of Police for supplementing our security arrangements," DGP Muktesh Chander told PTI.

Chander had earlier served in Police as Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) and as Joint Commissioner of Police, Prime Minister Security.

Coincidentally, TN Mohan, currently the Special Commissioner of Police (Security), earlier served as DGP.

Five personnel each have been posted at separate venues of the summit, said a senior police officer adding that the Police personnel are adept in handling close proximity security of VVIPs.
