Elephant, leopard found dead in Uttarakhand

The carcass of a 30-year-old male elephant was noticed nearby Buggawala village in Haridwar district yesterday, they said.

Preliminary examination suggested that it died of electrocution. However, postmortem is being conducted to ascertain the exact cause of death, they said.

In a separate incident, the carcass of five-year-old female leopard was found in Barhaini forest range of Kaladhungi area in Nainital district, they said.

Its body was intact, they said, adding, postmortem would be conducted to rule out foul play.
