A temporary member of the elephant squad was killed by a jumbo in Kuanrmunda forest range area in Odisha's Sundargarh district.

The incident occurred when members of the squad were trying to drive away an elephant herd that had entered into a village last night. Pati Dhibar (37) was killed in jumbo attack, forest officials said.

However, the pachyderm herd left the area after the incident, they said.
