FDI to render over four crore jobless: Bishnoi

The Congress-led UPA government at the Centre was pursuing "anti-people policies which will ruin people's lives", HJC supremo Kuldeep Bishnoi told reporters here.

The decision to allow FDI in retail was "illogical and anti-people" and would snatch bread and butter from 4.2 crore people, he said.

"In the name of growth and economic development, the government has sold the nation to rich corporate giants of the West such as Wal-Mart," Bishnoi said.

Nearly 4.40 crore people were at present earning their livelihood by working in retail sector in India, he said.

Wal-Mart would be able to employ merely 20 lakh people after implementation of the FDI in retail sector, Bishnoi said.

Consequently, around 4.20 crore people would lose their jobs due to "illogical" decision of the UPA government, he said.

Bishnoi alleged the Congress-led governments at the Centre and in states had failed on all fronts.

"The governments have failed to bring down skyrocketing prices of essential commodities and provide employment to educated youths," the HJC leader said.

In reply to a question, he said possibility of a snap poll in the country could not be ruled out.
