Padma Vibhushan Vidhusi Girija Devi will inaugurate the 38th ITC Sangeet Sammelan on Friday where eminent musicians like Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty, Pandit Uday Bhawalkar, Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar are slated to perform. The opening day of the three-day programme, which will feature an eclectic combination of Carnatic music besides Hindustani classical, will be held at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy lawns with individual performances by Kaushiki Chakraborty, Venkatesh Kumar and Tejendra Narayan Majumdar on Sarod. On the second day, eminent Hindustani violinist Padma Bhushan Dr N Rajam will be honoured with this year's ITC Sangeet Samman by ITC COO Sanjiv Puri, ITC Sangeet Research Academy Executive Director Ravi Srinivasan said here today. The COO on the same day will also inaugurate a revamped website of the Academy. ITC SRA Gurus Vidhushi Girija Devi, Pandit Uday Bhawalkar, Vidushi Subhra Guha were also present with Srinivasan at the media conference. Dr Rajam is also set to play his instrument on the second day followed by performances by Omkar Dadarkar, Shahid Parvez, Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty in the all-night musical extravaganza, he said. On the final day of the Sammelan there will be performances by Pandit Uday Bhawalkar, Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar besides, Abir Hossain playing sarod.
