'Gotham' season four to explore Alfred Pennyworth's past

Press Trust of India  |  Los Angeles

Actor Sean Pertwee has teased that the upcoming season of "Gotham" will give an insight into the backstory of Alfred Pennyworth.

The 53-year-old actor said the audience will get to know the reason why Bruce Wayne/ Batman and Wayne family's loyal butler get along so well, reported ContactMusic.

"I think you're going to find out indirectly about his past, and the person that he was. He's not proud. He has more demons than Bruce has.

"And that's why they've always inevitably sort of drawn together, and they find each other, and that relationship suffers as the young boy grows. Alfred tries to keep up with him, and he just can't," Pertwee told Cinema Blend.

The fourth season of the show premieres later this year.
