Gur steady in Delhi, up in Muzaffarnagar, down in Muradnagar

Press Trust of India  |  New Delhi

The wholesale gur (jaggery) market remained steady in the national capital today following adequate stocks amid scattered demand.

On the other hand, gur khurpa prices hardened by Rs 100 per quintal in Muzaffarnagar on paucity of stocks, while pedi prices declined by Rs 100 per quintal in Muradnagar on withdrawal of support and increased supplies.

Marketmen said tight stocks on restricted supplies mainly pushed up gur khurpa prices in Muzaffarnagar.

Meanwhile, gur pedi prices in Muradnagar declined due to absence of buying support, they added.

In Muzaffarnagar, gur khurpa prices rose by Rs 100 to settle at Rs 2,700-2,750 per quintal.

At Muradnagar, gur Pedi prices dropped by Rs 100 to finish at Rs 2,700-2,750 per quintal.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 3,100-3,200, pedi Rs 3,100-3,200, dhayya Rs 3,400-3,500 and shakkar Rs 3,500-3,600.
