According to sources at the Chalachitra Academy, the organisers of the event, actor Thilakan, who brought honours to the Malayalam film industry with two national awards, would be honoured by screening his film 'Perumthachan'.

Appachan, the founder of Navodya studios, would be remembered for being the producer of 'My Dear Kuttichathan,' the first 3D movie in the history of Indian Cinema.

Appachan was also producer of the firt 70 mm movie in India, 'Padayottam'.

With director Mohan's 'Shalini Ente Koottukari', Vindhyan had produced over 20 films in Malayalam. His latest film' Arike' by Shyamaprasad would be featured in the IFFK 2012.

T Damodaran, script writer, whose works had turned out to be blockbusters at the hands of Priyadrashan, I V Sasi and several other directors, would be remembered with the screening of 'Kala Pani,' a story of Andaman prisoners during the British Raj done by Pirayadarshan.

'Olavum Theeravum' directed by P N Menon, featuring Jose Prakash, who dominated the Malayalam film industry for 40 years in villain roles, would also be screened at the festival.

Noted Malayalam director C P Padmakumar's 'Sammohanam' would be screened at the festival in his memory.

In addition, Ashok Mehta, who was behind films like 'Bandit Queen', '36 Chowringhee Lane' and 'Utsav' and had won two national awards for best cinematography, would be remembered by screening 'Bandit Queen,' directed by Shekhar Kapur.

The first French film of Chris Makrer, 'Olympia 5', based on the 1952 Olympic Games would also be screened as a tribute. Japanese director and script writer Kaneto Shindo, who died aged 100 this year would be remembered with the screening of his film 'The Naked Island.'
