"In view of the fact that the state government is still indifferent, undecided or dilly dallying with the burning issue whereby the matter has become more acute and gone from bad to worse, we have decided to withdraw from the government," E K Raswai, general secretary of the party said.

At the central executive committee of the party here today, the party resolved to demand from Assam to withdraw its police outpost from Langpih including Nepalis, allegedly brought to forcefully occupy the land at Langpih.

The HDPDP has two elected representatives in the Assembly and three members at the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council.

Meanwhile, attendance in government offices in four Khasi Jaintia Hills districts today is very thin even as banks were closed in view of the office-picketing called by the Peoples' Movement.

Attendance in the capital is recorded at about 20-25 per cent only, East Khasi Hills district deputy commissioner Sanjay Goyal said.

In Ri-Bhoi the attendance at government offices is recorded at about 50 per cent while in West Khasi Hills, the attendance was recorded at 71 per cent.

In Jaintia Hills district, the attendance was recorded at about 41 per cent only.

The Peoples' Movement sponsored the office picketing today as one of its agitational programs demanding the government to end the imbroglio at the inter-state border at the earliest through every possible means.
