ICAI elects Naveen N D Gupta as president

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of (ICAI) today elected Naveen N D Gupta as and Prafulla P Chhajed as vice for the year 2018-19, according to an official release.

Gupta, who has been a chartered for more than 20 years, is widely commended for his role in making the income disclosure Scheme, 2016 a success. He was the vice in 2017-2018.

He represents in many important committees constituted by the government and regulators.

Chhajed is a CA from with over 20 years of experience in auditing and taxation.

A statutory body, the affairs of are managed by a council in accordance with the provisions of the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 and the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988.

The council is composed of 40 members, of whom 32 are elected by the members and remaining 8 are nominated by the central government generally representing the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, corporate affairs ministry, finance ministry and other stakeholders.
