Improved sex ratio in Punjab by 2015, says health minister

"The sex ratio has improved to 848/1000 from 791/1000 and it is expected to further improve to 900/1000 by the end of March next year," the minister said while speaking to reporters here.

He claimed that his government's efforts would improve the sex ratio in such a way that females would outnumber males in the state by 2015.

Mittal also announced awards for 75 villages panchayats which have contributed in the improvement of sex ratio.

His said the government would ensure availability of doctors and state-of-art facilities in hospitals for benefit of patients.
