The size of the Internet of Things (IoT) industry is huge globally and India must take maximum advantage of this opportunity, Union Minister Alphons Kannanthanam said today.
Kannanthanam further said since IoT industry is very nascent in India, it is essential to create an ecosystem by participation of academia, government and industry.
He said the electronics, IT and telecom industries must make the best use of IoT.
"Abundant availability of skilled human resource has been one of India's strength in IT/ITES sector. We can bring this strength to make a deterministic difference for growth and development of IoT sector in the country," said the Minister of State for Electronics and IT at an event organised by CII.
The IoT is a network of physical objects that contain embedded technology to communicate and sense or interact with their internal states or the external environment. It revolves around increased machine-to-machine communications.
The minister further said IoT can be a game changer in the coming days and will change the way we live today.
