India pledges around Rs 49 crore for 2 school projects in Nepal

Indian Ambassador to Nepal laid foundation stone of both schools in Kaski district and assured the country of the grant assistance

on Friday said it will provide a grant of 78.15 million (about Rs 48.7 crore) for the construction of two school buildings in western Nepal.

Indian Ambassador to Ranjit Rae laid foundation stone of the two school projects in district and assured the country of the grant assistance, a statement from the Indian embassy in Kathmandu said.

The grant includes construction of a building for Saraswati Tika Higher Secondary School at Lekhnath Municipality and another building for Gupteshwar Mahadev Multiple Campus at Pokhara, it said.

Saraswati Tika Higher Secondary School is one of the reputed schools in district and provides quality education to students from marginalised section of the society.

It has also been running classes for mentally retarded children from pre-primary to higher secondary level.

The Gupteshwar Mahadev Multiple Campus is a non-profit public campus affiliated to the Tribhuvan University.

Around 400 students, mostly girls, enrol in bachelors courses in the field of business studies and education in the campus every year.

routinely takes developmental projects in and also provides monetary grants for the financing of various critical projects.

Last month, has pledged financial assistance worth 39.97 million for the construction of a new building and a hostel facility at a Sanskrit school in eastern Nepal.

is also helping with post earthquake reconstruction work for which it has assured $1 billion in assistance.
