Indian athletes briefly disrupt men's event in Sri Lanka

The group members sat on the track when they were not allowed to take part in the game, a Lankan participant said.

Local authorities said they had accredited those who had duly applied and the group who opted to disrupt the event were not officially recognised to take part.

The group numbering about 80 athletes had not gone through the official application process.

The Indian contingent which were officially taking part in the games had 20 members.

After police and Indian diplomatic intervention all athletes were allowed to take part in the competition.
