The campaign will be launched from Sewagram Ashram in the neighbouring Wardha district where Maharashtra sanitation minister Laxmanrao Dhoble and other state officials would be present, an official release said here today.

The yatra will cover about 2,000 kms across five states over 56 days and will target around nine crore people to spread the message of clean and hygienic sanitation, the release said.

It will conclude on November 19 at Bettiah district in Bihar.

Vidya Balan is the brand ambassador of government's sanitation campaign.

Sikkim has already achieved the open defecation free status and other states like Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Maharashtra are on their way to achieve the sanitation goal in the years to come, it added.
