In a bid to increase employment avenues, Labour Ministry in association with CII and an online skill assessment firm Wheelbox has launched a Model Career Centre (MCC) in Mumbai. The MCC is a project of Director General Employment and Training of Labour Ministry through National Career Service (NCS), Wheelbox said in a press release. The MCC was formally launched by the Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya last week, a company spokesperson said. The center is a step above the employment exchanges across the nation which principally serve as registers of employed people. The candidates will be provided with counselling and assessment, soft skill training, technical up skilling and placement at MCC.
These training will help the candidates in securing right career choice as per their aptitude. The MCC will also provide an opportunity in bridging the skills requirement by industry with the workforce available. CII Naoroji Godrej Model Career Centre in Mumbai is the first model career centre in Maharashtra. Earlier Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya had said that six more Model Career Centres would be opened in the state during the year. He has emphasised on the importance of National Career Service Portal and the Model Career Centres to match 'skills to jobs', noting that more than 10 million workforce enter the job market every year, it is important to map them to meet the future needs of the industry.
