Kim Kardashian the most-searched person on Yahoo!

Press Trust of India  |  Los Angeles

The 'Keeping up with the Kardashians' star comes third in the over all list which has the term "election" as the champion and iPhone 5 as the runner-up, reported Ace Showbiz.

Vera Chan, Yahoo's web trend analyst, said Kim's "notoriety has kept her at the top."

"The brunette beauty becomes a constant hot topic due to her ongoing divorce battle with her estranged husband Kris Humphries, her high-profile romance with Kanye West and her E! reality series," she said.

"The 2012 elections dominated the online searches, which is amazing because if something is in the news, it's already accessible... People were really saturated by it, but even so, that was a key word that people typed throughout the year," she added.

Other famous females on the top 10 on the overall list are Kate Middleton, who was entangled in a topless photo scandal, Whitney Houston whose death in early 2012 spawned a number of tributes, and Lindsay Lohan who's facing multiple legal woes.

Sports Illustrated cover model Kate Upton and former "American Idol" judge Jennifer Lopez are on the list as well.

In the pop culture category, "The Hunger Games" becomes the most popular term in the past twelve months. The other talks of the town are reality star Honey Boo Boo, S&M novel 'Fifty Shades of Grey', boyband One Direction, Carly Rae Jepsen's smash hit 'Call Me Maybe' and PSY's viral sensation 'Gangnam Style'.
