The Jammu and Kashmir BJP today alleged that people with "special motive" were indulging in massive "land grabbing" of forest and revenue land to change the demography of the Jammu region and make it vulnerable to anti-national forces.
State BJP spokesperson Virender Gupta claimed several cases of land grabbing can be seen in Bathindi, Sunjwan, Sidhra, Kotwal and other areas in the vicinity of the Jammu city and in and around other towns of the province.
"We express our anguish at the largescale grabbing of government land including that of forest department and under control of custodian department, JDA, and other state authorities by the people with vested interests and those with special motives to change the demography of the Jammu region," he told reporters here.
He said that in most of the cases influential people and the musclemen are behind such acts and referred to some news items in one of the daily newspapers published from Jammu.
Prof Virender said that in the Bantalab and Kotwal area under the Marh constituency several pieces of custodian land in the possession of allottees or that are vacant were being sold to the people with vested interests.
