Leopard killed

death at Premganj in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district after it mauled two brothers while they were crossing Teesta river today.

Police said the two brothers were crossing the river in their boat from Jalpaiguri sadar to Premganj when the animal jumped into it and mauled one of them.

The other brother who jumped to his rescue was also injured by the leopard.

They, however, managed to reach Premnagar where the locals who had seen the animal mauling them beat it with sticks and killed it at the riverside.

The carcass was later taken to the nearby forest office, the police said adding the two brothers were rushed to the hospital.
