Lieutenant General P P Malhotra has assumed charge as the new Director General of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), the Defence Ministry said today.
The NCC is the largest uniformed youth organisation in the world.
Prior to assuming his present appointment, he was chief engineer of the Indian Army's Northern Command, the ministry said in a statement.
An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Pune, his distinguished professional career includes various regimental, staff and command appointments.
He was commissioned in the Corps of Engineers of the Indian Army on June 18, 1983, it said.
"A graduate of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, the general has also undergone the prestigious National Defence College course at New Delhi," the statement said.
His educational qualifications include a B.Tech from the College of Military Engineering, Pune; M.Tech from IIT-Bombay; M. Phil from DAVV, Indore; and an M.Phil from the Madras University.
