A 23-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping a married woman and blackmailing her by threatening to post her objectionable video and pictures on the social media, police said today. Yogesh alias Yogi Punjabi, a resident of Jhulelal Chowk at Khadakpada in Kalyan township and pursuing graduation, had on March 23 called up the 21-year-old victim, living in Ulhasnagar, on the pretext of getting her a job, they said. When the woman met him near an autorickshaw stand at Shahad bridge in Ulhasnagar, he took her in a car to meet his father for the job.
However, mid-way, he offered her a sedative-laced drink. The woman fell unconscious after having the drink following which the accused allegedly raped her, police said. The man also recorded a video of the alleged offence on his mobile phone and later threatened the woman that if she revealed it to anyone, he would post the video on the social media along with her objectionable pictures, police said. As per the complaint, the accused again called her on November 15 and sought sexual favours from her or else threatened to inform her husband about their relation. The accused again called the victim, who is pregnant, on November 24 and threatened her with dire consequences if she failed to turn up, police said. Fed up with the harassment, the woman filed the complaint with Ulhasnagar police last evening following which the man was arrested last night and booked under sections 376 (rape), 328 (causing hurt by means of poison, etc, with intent to commit an offence) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and also sections 66(E) of Information Technology Act, police added.
