Man attacked by panther in Rajasthan

Press Trust of India  |  Alwar (Raj)

In rising incidents of man-animal conflict in the district, a person was attacked by a panther near Sariska forest area here today.

"Rampratap Gurjar was attacked by a panther today," Sariska Field Director, R S Shekhawat said.

Senior police and forest officials have rushed to the area, he said.

"The incidents of panther attacks have increased in recent times. The forest department authorities have launched a massive hunt for the panther considered to be dangerous for human life," officials said.

The district has witnessed similar incidents in the past following which a panther, suspected to have been involved in attacks on villagers, was caught last month.

The officials, however, added that such attacks remained unabated.
