A 40-year-old man and his nephew today drowned in a pond while working in their agricultural field in Naserabad village of Jhalawar district, police said. The deceased were identified as Jagannath Prajapat and his nephew Shaktiman (18), SHO of Bakani police station Umesh Kumar told PTI. They were working in their field when Shaktiman lost his balance and slipped into the pond, Kumar said. Prajapat immediately jumped into the pond to rescue his nephew but became a victim himself as neither was an experienced swimmer, the SHO said. Local villagers immediately rushed to the spot and took them to a nearby hospital where they were declared dead.
The bodies were sent for post-mortem, he added.
