Shabbu, a former Samajwadi Party worker, had complained about a meat seller on Tuesday and alleged that he was not getting a satisfactory response from the Ramgarh police station in-charge Mohammad Aqeel Ghazi.

Following this, he sprinkled kerosene and set himself ablaze, Additional Superintendent of Police Ratan Kant Pandey said.

The police officer who rushed Shabbu to the district hospital was roughed up by the victim's relatives and SP supporters.

Ghazi, when contacted, said that on the complaint of Shabbu, an FIR was registered against five people and despite efforts they could not be arrested.
