Man who escaped from jail 5 months ago arrested after a chase

On a tip-off that Megh Singh was present in Dechu, about 100km from here, Jodhpur Rural policemen drawn from a number of police stations surrounded the area by putting up road blockades to seal all escape routes.

In the afternoon, police first apprehended Sang Singh and the vehicle Megh Singh was using.

By late in the night, police succeeded in arresting Megh Singh also, said a senior police official.

Police recovered Rs.6.33 lakh which Megh Singh and Sang Singh had allegedly looted from a petrol pump near Dechu and on Sunday and seized 2 countrymade pistols from them.

A constable Mangi Lal, received fracture while chasing the duo in police jeep.

Megh Singh had fled from the Jalor jail about 5 months ago and had been eluding the police since then.

He continued to carry on his activities along with his gang members.
