A week-long mango and jackfruit festival will be held at the Kadri park in the city from tomorrow.
The festival is being jointly organised by the Department of Horticulture, Karnataka Mango Development and Marketing Corporation, Agricultural Scienes Centre, Mangaluru and Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat, a release here said.
Around 45 varieties of mango and 12 varieties of jackfruit would be on display at various stalls from which farmers would sell naturally ripened fruits directly to consumers.
Value-added products of jackfruit and mango would also be available at the stalls.
There would be 44 stalls at the festival, which would beopen from 8 AM to 7 PM on all days except the inaugural day.
The consumers can buy fruits at a price lower than the market price as middlemen are not involved.
State Forests Minister and DK district-in-charge B Ramanath Rai would inaugurate the event, the release said.
The festival would conclude on May 25.
