MCD school teachers say no to voter registration duties

Related News

After a meeting of teachers with office bearers of the Nagar Nigam Shikshak Sangh, the association said they have written to the election commission as well as the HRD Minister on the issue.

The teachers association said teachers had been entrusted with the duties of booth level officers under which they have to visit houses and families and complete the process of voter registration from July 1 to 31.

"Directing teachers to perform these day-long duties when the schools are in session will severely affect the students and cause loss to their academic time," said a statement.

It said women teachers were also experiencing problems while carrying on with their job and were concerned about their security while going about places.

They said they would boycott these duties if their concerns were not addressed.
