Mirwaiz appeals to civil society to aid flood-relief efforts

Moderate Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umer Farooq today appealed to the civil society to ensure the "much-needed flow" of aid to the flood-ravaged state of even as he charged that the government machinery had failed to deal with the crisis.

"For the sake of humanity, the civil society should play an active role in removing any obstacles for the much-needed flow of international aid to Kashmir," Mirwaiz told a civil society delegation from which called on him at his residence here.
