Sangrur SSP Harcharan Singh Bhullar said Inspector Baljinder Singh Pannu was kidnapped by a miscreant Rimpal and four of his associates.

Pannu had received a phone call from Rimpal on May 8 that he would sort out the mystery behind a blind murder committed on April 8 under the Dirba police station provided he was awarded a cash of Rs two lakh.

After settlement of the prize money, Rimpal had asked Pannu to come near a marriage hall with the direction to come under plane clothes.

Pannu turned up in his private car concealing Rs one lakh under his seat.

Rimpal asked Pannu to board his car and gave him some intoxicant with the help of co-kidnappers to make him unconscious.

The SSP said the private car of Pannu has not yet been traced.

The SSP, however, evaded a reply when questioned whether he was taken into confidence about payment of the prize money by the SHO from his own pocket.
