Forward Bloc today accused the Narendra Modi government of having failed to fulfil the promises made by BJP before 2014 polls as the country is hit by soaring prices and growing unemployment.
"The BJP-led NDA government has failed to fulfil the promises made by Narendra Modi during campaigning for the last Lok Sabha election," Forward Bloc general secretary Debabrata Biswas said while inaugurating a three-day national workshop of the party here.
Unemployment is increasing, prices of all essential commodities are skyrocketing, public sector units are being privatised and farmers are committing suicide, Biswas said.
The former MP said small traders are suffering due to demonetisation and introduction of GST in an unscientific manner.
Claiming that minorities and dalits are being attacked and are deprived of their fundamental rights, he said the image of the nation is at peril during the Narendra Modi dispensation.
The government is being controlled by RSS, Biswas said adding that attempts are being made to divide the society on religious lines damaging the country's secular tradition.
"Only the ideology of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose can save the great nation from this crisis," said the general secretary of the Forward Bloc founded by Netaji in 1939.
He said that a new movement is needed to save the country and to transform the society.
