Mumbai thrash Maharashtra in one-sided game

Mumbai enjoyed a clear edge over Maharashtra but in the first session they were restricted to just one goal, scored by Jayesh Jadhav in the 14th minute, who later added to his and the side's tally with another shot on target.

The hosts continued to attack the rival citadel, but all their attempts were thwarted by an alert and agile Maharashtra goalkeeper James Parmar, who had an excellent first half.

However, after switching sides, Mumbai showed improvement in their finishing and hammered home six goals to run away with the match.

Frontliner Osaf ur Rehman found the target twice, Jadhav added one more, while skipper Tyron Pereira, Roshan Keisham and Ganendrajit Ningombam chipped in with one each.

Earlier in the morning, Vidarbha blanked Rural Maharashtra 3-0 after leading by a solitary goal at the end of the first half. Captain S K Imran netted twice and Sushil Kumar got the other goal for the winners.

In another game, Pune DHA got past Baroda 4-2. Deep Patel 2, Amol Bhosale and Kunal Jagdale scored for the winnrs while for Baroda Vijay Thapa found the mark twice.
