NC alleges violation of code of conduct before Srinagar bypoll

Opposition today filed a complaint with the of J&K, alleging "various brazen violations" of the at several places in parliamentary constituency where bypoll is to take place on April 9.

The complaint was filed by Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani and asked the EC to ensure free and fair polls.

In the complaint filed with the CEO, Wani highlighted various developmental works either being identified or taken up at various places in Charar-e-Sharief, Budgam, Khan Sahib and with the "tacit and brazen approval of the local administration and the state government".

"These are clear violations of the MCC and we have requested the CEO to take immediate cognisance and action to uphold the guidelines of the MCC and ensure elections take place in a free and fair atmosphere without any undue and illegitimate misuse of funds and machinery by the state government", the NC leader said after filing the complaint on behalf of the party.
