"True Blood" star Nelsan Ellis' public funeral will be held on Saturday, July 22 at Holy Temple Cathedral in Harvey, Ill, a suburb south of Chicago.
Prior to the funeral, there will be a public viewing on July 21 from 6 PM to 9 PM at Leak & Sons Funeral Home in Country Club Hills, Ill, reported People magazine.
Ellis died on July 8 from heart failure complications at the age of 39. His family issued a statement attributing the heart failure to longtime alcohol and drug abuse.
Ellis is survived by his son, Breon, as well as his grandmother, Alex Brown, and his father, Tommie Lee Thompson. He is also survived by his siblings Lakeeia Thomson, Tommie Lee Thompson, Babon Ellis, Maurice Turne, Tianna Thompson, Shaentika Beard and Yvonne Ellis and aunt Tartheaia Thompson.
