Notice to GDA, UP Irrigation dept for dumping waste in Hindon

Hearing the contempt petition by a public interest petitioner Vikrant Sharma, the tribunal directed filing of counter affidavit by the petitioner two weeks after the replies of the authorities.

Counsel for the petitioner Deepesh Kumar told PTI that the Jal Biradri, an NGO for water conservation, filed this petition against the construction of a bridge on the Hindon river changing its course near Raj Nagar Extension here.

Jal Biradri Ghaziabad district president Sharma told PTI that as the authorities did not comply with the order of the tribunal, the present contempt petition was filed.

The tribunal fixed July 19 for further hearings when the authorities are expected to file show cause replies.
