One person died and another was gravely injured in a fire that broke out at a restaurant in south Kolkata's Jadavpur area this morning, police said.
A 30-year-old died in a fire that broke out at around 11 am at a restaurant located opposite of the KPC Hospital
The charred body was found by the fire fighters during the salvaging operations in the building. The man was later identified as hailing from Patashpur in East Midnapore district, a senior Kolkata Police officer said.
The man injured in the incident is being treated at M R Bangur Hospital, he said.
Forensic team has collected samples from the place and an investigation was on into the fire which appears to have been caused due to gas leakage, he said.
