The Kuber Hotel building near Apsara Cinema on Bhiwandi- Kalyan Road crashed around 2.30 pm, they said.

At least 12 occupants who were trapped under the debris of the structure were rescued in the night by firemen, officials said.

According to the officials the 60-year-old building was unfit for occupation and was served a notice by the corporation in April.

Out of the three injured, two were shifted to Thane civil hospital while one at IGM Hospital in the powerloom town. The deceased has been identified as Uddheshwar Paswan (45).

A heavy downpour since last night might have led to the crash of the building which was in a state of disrepair, police said.

Fire officials said there was no more possibility of anyone being trapped under the debris and the work of clearing the debris is being carried out.
