: Indian Union Muslim League, a coalition partner of opposition Congress led UDF in Kerala, today named P K Kunhalikutty as the front candidate for the April 12 by poll to the Malappuram lok sabha constituency.
The decision in this regard was taken at the party's high level committee which met here under the leadership of IUML supremo Panakkad Hyder Ali Shihab Thangal.
Announcing the candidature of Kunhalikutty, who is IUML's National General Secretary, Thangal said Kunhalikutty, will be filing his nomination papers on Mar 20.
The by poll was necessitated following the death of 78-year-old former union minister E Ahamed, who passed away on February 1.
Kunhalikutty is member of the Kerala assembly from Vengara.
