Press Trust of India  |  Washington

The US has said it is in Pakistan's interest to crackdown on those terror groups that are finding safe havens within its borders.

"With respect to our counterterrorism cooperation with Pakistan, that's ongoing. We work with them quite closely. They're aware of some of our concerns, which include a safe haven for some terrorist groups that are active in the region," he said.

"But again (the State Department has) made clear many times from this podium, Pakistan's also paid the price of terrorism," Toner said in response to a question.

The on November 19 had said that "can and must" take more effective action against terror groups operating from its soil as no state should allow its territory to be used to launch attacks into another.
