Salve, a Chartered Accountant by profession, is known for almost re-writing the Income Tax Laws in the country, Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari said.

He was the chairman of the 9th Finance Commission from 1987 to 1990.

Salve served as President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Chairman, Asian Cricket Council, Lok Sabha Speaker said.

As chairman of the Indo-Pakistan Joint Management Committee, Salve played a crucial role in organising the cricket World Cup in 1987.

A man of letters, Salve has in his credit, publications titled 'Is India the Highest Tax Nation' and 'The Story of Reliance Cup'.

Salve was a member of the fourth and fifth Lok Sabha from Betul (1967-77) and was member of the Rajya Sabha for four consecutive terms from 1978 to 2002.

The Lok Sabha also mourned the death of Dinesh Pratap Singh, who was member of the first and second Lok Sabha. PTI NKD SKU
