Police Martyrs Memorial Football Tournament from June 30

The tournament will be played from June 30 to July 16, an official spokesman said.

"Renowned teams from within and outside the state are participating in the tournament," he said.

Director General of Police K Rajendra Kumar yesterday reviewed the arrangements for the tournament at a meeting held at Armed Police Headquaters here in which senior police officials and members of the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association participated.

The DGP said the tournament is organised "to commemorate the sacrifices of police martyrs who laid their precious lives for the safety of the people and safeguarding the integrity of the nation".

He said such activities have prevailed an atmosphere of peace and helped in the promotion of sports culture among the people.
