Punjab Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Surjit Singh Rakhra said the project, in collaboration with Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services Limited (IL&FS), is aimed at providing quality infrastructure, market-linked vocational skills and economic activities in rural areas.
The total cost of the project is expected to be Rs 240 crore.
Rakhra said the scope of the scheme is to select private partners to develop livelihood opportunities, urban amenities and infrastructure facilities, almost akin to urban standards.
Moreover, they will be responsible for maintenance of the same for a period of ten years in select cluster of the Panchayat.
The selected private partners would also be required to provide amenities like water supply and sanitation, roads, drainage, solid waste management, street lighting and undertake skill development activity.
